We're so happy you chose to tan with us at Velvet Fray! Since it's your first time tanning with us at VF, we'll give you a tour of our space while we walk back to our tanning studio. Then, we'll ask you to answer a few questions and complete a small bit of paperwork so that we can get to know you, your skin, and your tanning goals! 

Your tan technician will review this paperwork with you and ask clarifying questions if needed. There will be a question or two regarding allergies and medications. We understand that these topics are private and this is sensitive information, however, it is important for your tan tech to know this information about you. These details are always confidential and will never be shared with anyone.

Velvet Fray is committed to providing the highest-quality service and that includes the use of the highest-quality tanning solutions that are made from natural or naturally-derived ingredients. All of our products are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, and nut oil-free. While we don't anticipate any issues regarding allergies, it's always good for your tan tech to be well informed about your sensitivities and allergies. Secondly, certain medications can alter your skin's response to tanning solutions, so again, it's helpful for your tan tech to know upfront if you are on any medications.

Once your consultation is complete and your tan tech is aware of your tanning goals, she will leave the room to allow you time to undress to your comfort level. You are welcome to wear your own under garments or go bra-less and wear the disposable thongs that we offer. Another option is to wear your bikini/bathing suit. If you decide to go this route, black is the best option! No jewelry should be worn during the spraying process (with the exception of permanent jewelry - that's not an issue!) and your hair should be up and out of your face. Claw clips, hair ties, headbands, and a hair net are supplied for your convenience!

When you are ready, your tan technician will re-join you and begin the spraying process while instructing you on special standing poses to ensure a smooth, consistent tan. After the Ph Balancing spray, your custom color formula, and any add-ons that you've selected have been applied, a short drying time will need to occur before the finishing powder is applied. After the finishing powder has been applied, you'll be able to redress in your loose, dark clothing (no bra, please!). The last step will be to complete your check out and continue marinating for the suggested length of time. Additionally, you'll be given a spray tan after-care card. It is imperative to read and follow the steps on the card to maximize the longevity of your tan!

Don't forget! All of our tans at VF require 24-48 hours to fully develop. After 12 hours, you'll notice your color beginning to develop. After 24 hours, you'll see a beautiful color setting in, and after 48 hours you'll be glowing, as your tan will be fully developed!
